NHLDev Another one for you please I’ve questioned this before on this forum, and never really got a satisfactory answer so trying again. I just played my first Division 2 game and matched this player: One division up, perhaps not unreasonable until you look at his ranking compared to mine: The key facts as I see it: My opponent was ranked a whopping 5, places higher than me More than half as many league points again than me A record pushing. This matchup took a mere 10 seconds to find – suggesting that this wasn’t someone quite so far from my own ranking if previous comments in this forum and online are to be believed.
How Matchmakers Work
The Matchmaker MM puts together several ships that are in the battle queue to create a battle with no more than a 1 tier in ship difference. The Matchmaker tries to mirror the classes and tiers as much as possible between the teams, but the requirements are progressively relaxed if the queues take longer than usual. The MM does not consider the player skill, current commander, the national affiliation of the ship or her loadout.

The Division – Basics guide and matchmaking tips
Division 2 raid matchmaking has been a point of contention for most of The Division 2 community since the Division 2 raid launched over a month ago. Unlike the standard missions and strongholds in the game where you can search for players to complete it with, there’s nothing similar for the Division 2 raid matchmaking. Players need to find a group of like-minded folk via different means to complete the raid with, rather than simply searching for a lobby to join.
Massive has previously said this is because the raid is so tough and requires a lot of communication to complete it, but we spoke to them more at E3 and they said they’re “working on solutions” to Division 2 raid matchmaking:. I would hate for players to be thrown into traditional matchmaking schemes for something as hard as what our raid is and so it needs to be treated with care.

Professional matchmaking used to be a service used almost exclusively by wealthy men with the disposable income to have someone else sort through the choppy waters of the dating pool on their behalf. Many matchmakers, including New York’s Janis Spindel, work exclusively with male clients, and the standard business model was largely built on the premise of bringing potential brides to rich, single men. But that guy-seeking-girl tide has turned, and just as many — if not more — gainfully employed women have begun turning to matchmakers to make their romantic dreams come true [source: Froelich ].
Industry statistics report women typically comprise 60 percent of matchmaker customers, in fact [source: The Matchmaking Institute ]. Matchmakers attract clients in one of two ways. People will either seek them out through advertisements, online searches or word of mouth, or matchmakers will proactively recruit wedding-band-free singles at parties, high-end restaurants, airports and other places where affluent adults congregate [source: Spindel and Raymond ].
Before potential clients purchase an official membership, matchmakers will often conduct an initial consultation, sometimes for a nonrefundable fee, to find out what type of relationship they’re interested in and with what type of person. From there, the official process will begin, and membership dues will be paid; or a matchmaker may refer the person to another service better tailored to his or her interests.
Fetching men and women on the other side of the set-up equation who wish to be included in a matchmaker’s bank of potential date picks for clients may come directly from the professional’s social network, or they may attend formal recruiting sessions or auditions [source: Thernstrom ]. Those ladies- and gentlemen-in-waiting may also fork over a fee to get a spot on one of those matchmaker lists.
To determine the best possible coupling, a matchmaker will first dive into a client’s romantic psyche by finding out information, including:.

Unfortunately Discovery mode does not allow players to pick up the Exotic loot available in the Normal mode version of the raid, but Ubisoft.
While many multiplayer gamers tend to move about in pre-formed groups, there are plenty who prefer to fly solo. But whatever the case may be, there are typically solutions, most notably matchmaking, for those solo players to group up and take an extra advantage online. In our experiences, any match made missions or free roam sessions were virtually lag free. That being said, those match made missions were not without their problems, namely in the actual players we were teamed up with.
See, while The Division does offer matchmaking for its story missions , there is no way to set any parameters for teammates. In essence, when a player activates matchmaking they are tossed into a pool that could include teammates of any level, regardless of the mission they are attempting. For the normal versions of the story missions this is hardly an issue, outside of a few outliers.
Normal missions have their recommended levels and the enemies within those missions are typically no higher than one level above the recommendation. In fact, the vast majority of our hard story mission encounters in matchmaking have resulted in at least one disconnection over the course of the encounter. So, a player who is level 15 could be teamed up with one who is level 5.
Because they do, however, that level 5 player will have a near-impossible time trying to do damage, let alone surviving for more than a few seconds. As more people dive into and head towards the level cap in The Division this is sure to be a non-issue, but as it stands the matchmaking in the game could use some work. Obviously, Ubisoft will want to prioritize server stability and eliminating griefing player behavior, but we could see matchmaking getting some love in a future patch as well.
If nothing else, if the missions could set a base line level requirement that might help alleviate some of the frustration.

Skill-based matchmaking in Fortnite has been a topic of much debate among the community. Epic recently added skill-based matchmaking SBMM to Fortnite, evening the playing field for both skilled and unskilled players. Now, extreme skill levels will no longer meet. There are pros and cons to the new skill-based matchmaking system, which need to be explored if Epic is considering implementing this across all modes.
The first argument for skill-based matchmaking has to be that new players will have a better experience with the game. As much as the hardcore Fortnite players may hate it, Epic cares more about low-skilled, casual, returning, and new players more than they do about people who have been dedicated to this game for years. They want growth, and in order for their game to grow they need to keep players pouring in. Fortnite is already the most punishing game on the market for new players.
With SBMM, these players will at least have a chance to learn the game and get better without a Soccer Skin trap killing them. If the experience for the lower-skill Fortnite players improves, then the experience for the higher-skill players is going to suffer. Good players will be grouped together, which means fights will be more difficult once you start to raise your MMR matchmaking ranking.
This is already the case in Solos. Players in the upper-levels are all turtling instantly when they get shot and tarping or tunneling when they need to move. Everyone is more hesitant to take fights.
